How to Troubleshoot Unsupported Image Formats
Why a file fails to load, the formats this site supports, and the steps that fix most errors.
The most common cause of a failure is a renamed file: a file called .jpg that is actually a different format, or a truncated download. The browser checks the actual image data, not just the extension, so a misleading name produces a clear error instead of a fake success.
Supported inputs here are JPEG, PNG, WebP, BMP and GIF (first frame). Formats such as TIFF, HEIC/HEIF, RAW camera files, SVG and PSD are not supported by the browser Canvas decoder and will be rejected with an error.
If your photo is HEIC (common on iPhones), convert it to JPEG on the phone first — in Photos, share or export the image as JPEG — then use it here. If a file is very large, check the limits: 20 MB per file and 100 megapixels.
Corrupted files cannot be repaired by this site. If the same file fails in two different tools here, try opening it in another viewer; if it fails there too, the file itself is damaged and needs to be re-downloaded or re-exported from its source.
When reporting a problem, note the tool, the file format and size, and the exact error message. Do not send private images — describe the problem instead.
